Accelerated Learning For Golf

We are going to start getting into how you can actually start working on utilizing your unconscious mind a lot more to hit better shots more consistently. A little background first:

In the 1960's and through the 1970's, the then Soviet Union and East Germany Olympic teams dominated both the Winter and Summer Olympics. Do you know why? No, it wasn't because of steroids. It was because these and other Communist bloc countries were seriously deep into studying mental performance. They were way far ahead of any Western countries in applying these concepts to sports and they kept this knowledge secret for a long time thanks to the closed nature of their societies.

They first were using what they learned to teach people how to learn languages extremely fast. Normally, a student could learn about 50 words a day with standard methods. They were able to increase this to over 500 words a day by using a system that was centered on...are you ready for this...Specific Music and relaxed awareness!

It's absolutely true. They found that if they were able to slow down the body's rhythms (mainly heartbeat which runs faster than the brain's) to match the brain's, and inject certain music, that it opened up whole new parts of the mind to the learning experience and allowed a far greater potential of information to be stored.

They also found that the stored information was much more easily retrieved in the future when needed! Starting to sound like something we can use for our golf? (hint: if you've hit a great shot with one of your clubs just once, you can do it again and again)

This began to evolve into numerous branch-offs but it all comes under the heading of "Accelerated Learning" techniques. One guy, a Dr.Raymond Abrezol from Switzerland, started to get in on this field of study and began to mentally train Swiss athletes for skiing. And the Swiss ski team started to win more medals than a country that size should ever be able to. From his experiences and studies, he created his own science he called "suggestopedia" and he specialized in sports performance.

So one day in my mid-30's, I stumble across a book about all of this that had been in my garage bookshelf for years from a college course I took called "interpersonal communications." Yes, I know, what a mouthful. Anyway, I re-read it and started to apply the principles to my golf game.

I didn't have any time to practice my lousy game anymore since I was working 2 jobs and we just had our second child. I still wanted to golf whenever I could squeeze out a few hours so I had nothing to lose by trying it out in my in-between times at home.

Well, lo and behold, the next new season after beginning this process, I broke 80! I didn't practice, I didn't work on my game at the range. And I stopped reading all those golf magazines.

There are many great works on the subject now, the most popular being: "Accelerated Learning" by Colin Rose. That was written 20 years ago and now there is so much more to Accelerated Learning for performance that it is now it's own science.

Most folks don't even know they have an unconscious mind. Many of those who know never make an effort to directly communicate with it. Of those that do, very few do it more than sporadically. It's so easy and pleasurable and it is the way to dipping into that reservoir of power and energy that all of us possess yet rarely use - that 90% untapped mindpower we hear so much about. It's this simple: When the mind is on board and in harmony, the body responds with every resource it has.

I have been doing this for years now with golf and other goals and it works! In additon to performance, it's a great way to relax, forget all your worries and troubles of the day, and supercharge your mind for whatever you want to enhance, especially your golf game!

Tomorrow, we'll talk about getting the most improvement for the least effort.

Have you heard it all before? Have you taken lesson after lesson and you're still stuck at your old scoring level? Why is that? Why do some folks seem to make this game sooo easy and others struggle beyond belief.

What if you could play golf with the attitude of Fred Couples? What if you could shrug off your worst nightmare rounds and play at your highest level immediately after?

I have been impressed with the size and quality of the material I have received as part of this programme. The most valuable concept has been the methodology of self improvement, with most of my difficulties stemming from a feeling initially that everybody judges your golf when playing in a group with you, where now I accept that I am playing to improve my own game, just getting my head right I guess. I had a fluctuating set of scores before this programme and i now find that I am much more consistent in my play. My play from fairway to green is much more consistent and there is a confidence when over putts

Have you heard the old saying that we only use 10% of our mind power? Whether it's 5% or 10% or 20%, you know it's definitely true as you have experienced times in your life, on and off the course where you have had absolute flashes of brilliance and wondered why you can't do it all the time...guess what? You can! If you've hit a great shot with your clubs just once before, there is absolutely no reason you can't do it again. What do you do differently when you don't repeat a great shot? I'll tell you...you run your mind a certain way that produces those results...simple.
