Hypnotic Golf

Ok Without Practice Members. Here it is, the big secret that you can do on your own with the following guidance.

You know, I'd read about how Tiger Woods has used hypnosis for his game with Jay Brunza, who was a military psychologist that Earl Woods was friends with. But he has recently said that he doesn't go to a hypnotist anymore.

You see, hypnosis doesn't necessarily have to mean going to someone's office, lying back in a chair or sofa and getting hypnotized. Yes, I do that for folks and yes, it works. Thousands of golfers on the pro tours aren't wasting money doing just that as Tiger did.

But today, I want you to get the idea that you can have that state when you are on the course. It's just a matter of intention and awareness. Intention that you are really and truly serious about letting your unconscious mind play more shots because it is so much more consistent than your conscious mind. Tim Gallwey called them Self 1 and Self 2. He said that Self 1 is used to being in command and doesn't give up very easily. The hypnotic state can do that for you.

This is why we must develop the habit on the course and then once you have that, you'll find many other benefits outside of golf to utilize this on.

Begin by noticing how you feel and everything about your state the next time you totally and completely give yourself up to a relaxing time watching an engrossing movie or reading a very interesting book. Take a time out here and there (commercials?) and close your eyes and be aware of how your body parts are relaxed and your mind is totally at ease. Release all thought and just let your mind wander into the darkness behind your eyelids. Ask yourself some questions about what you want in life and how you will work to get it. Ask yourself about your purpose in life.

Be aware of how your mind is operating during this kind of exercise. You don't need a man in a black cape with a spinning watch, you are fully capable of this. Begin a dialogue with yourself. Talk to yourself pleasantly about your golf game. Let some visions appear if they come up but it's not necessary.

Notice, notice, notice the feelings, the steps you took, the thoughts that led you to going inside your own mind. This is the unconscious feel. Try it again another time only this time with your eyes open. Stare at a spot on the wall. You might be a little more feeling "awake" but that's o.k. What you will be doing is practicing your "zone" state. That is what Tiger does when he is at his best and he makes a habit of it.

He's done mediation and hypnosis for years. The more you do this, the easier it becomes to switch on and off as your body will follow the mind and vice versa.

When you've done this a few times, have the intention to create this state or feeling again while in your pre-shot routine. Zero in on the target while feeling the zone state. There is only the target. There is only the thought of sending this ball to that spot or the hole. You can't even come up with anything else but the target and the ball heading there.

The more you do this, the better you will become at it. The more intention, the quicker your unconscious will accept that that is what you want it to do. Nobody else has to know what you are doing as it will only be for about 30 seconds of your pre-routine and the actual swing.

Don't be afraid of the word hypnosis. Remember that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You are under your own control. You make things happen. You direct your automatic mind to perform automatically, bringing up the file for the perfect shot you've already had with that club. Make a strong command to do just that to assist with sending the ball to that exact target.

This is what I do. This is the magic of how you can play excellent golf with or without real practicing. If you practice on the range, do the above exercises while practicing. You may not have the talent a pro does, but I know you have the same or better mind than they have.

Use it!

Greens and fairways,

Craig

P.s. what's the second thing you can do?  Hypnosis! I'll get into that some more soon.
