The quality of your golf game is equal to the quality of your communication...with yourself!

What does this mean? It means that how well you play is basically determined by how well you direct your mind.
That's it, nothing more, simple right?
It is true whether you do it the Hard way by taking a lot of lessons and spend hours and hours on the range grinding it in to your brain Or you do it the Easy way (time-efficient way) the "Without Practice" way that doesn't require that time spent. When you do it the hard way, it is easier on your brain but harder on your physical body and the rest of your life's obligations since you have limited free time.

When you do it the easy way, the only hurdles are:

  • 1. You don't believe that there is any other way but the hard way.
  • 2. You must make a commitment toward consistently doing the easy way.

Now, you may think that #1 statement above is not a problem for you to overcome since you bought this program and are "open" to anything that might help your golf game. However, #1 is extremely entrenched in our way of thinking about golf and you will be continually tempted to revert back to it if you don't see significant improvement to match your expectations.

I can't tell YOU what to expect in your improvement as it will be determined by how much desire and effort YOU have going in. I can tell you that everything I talk about in this section is PROVEN SCIENCE and once you are convinced of it, then you will move forward and you WILL ACHIEVE RESULTS .It is absolutely within reason to gain a 5-stroke average drop in your scores in less than a month if you put maximum drive into what I have provided on this CD and another 5 strokes in a couple more months for the average golfer all without practicing.

The speed of these results = the effort you put in. You can look the studies up for yourself and I will provide links here for you if you want to do that. This will be your insulation against doubting the Easy way (#1). Being convinced will also help with #2 but another element, discipline, must play a small part in making it happen as you would figure. This discipline required will be FAR LESS than what would be required to get yourself down to your local practice facility on a regular basis. I mean c'mon, what's easier: carving out 2 hours a week to get to the range or making sure you properly relax your body and turn on a Music tape on your nightstand for 10 minutes before bed every night?

Once again, in an effort to give you everything, I am going to provide more than you probably want to read or learn about in this member's support page so don't feel like you have to read it all. I have it there for those that need the extra convincing or further explanation, that's all. Don't get overwhelmed. You can always just re-listen to the CD and get what you need to work your subconcious mind and that'll do it for you.

One final note: If you work the Easy Way and the Hard Way (if you somehow find the time), you may speed up your progress significantly. This is what all the pros do.

Goal setting

Suggested golf goals to set: Remember, you can't be thinking about your Off-course goals when on the course. That will create tension and ruin your round. On course goals must be process-based.

Off course goals Put a time frame on them.(these will be the fuel to fire your desire)Do not think about these when at the course.

  1. My handicap is _____ by the end of September.
  2. I have broken the score of 80, 90, 100 by April 2006
  3. I have hit 15 Greens in regulation this weekend and win the bet on that
  4. I have had 36 putts or less in a round
  5. I have won my club championship this July
  6. I have beaten my golfing partner by the end of this month

On the course goals (these will keep you playing each shot individually) See member's page 4 for the On-Course CD.

Beliefs/Self Image

The hardest part about this section is getting by the fact that you have more bad shots than good shots and we tend to focus more on the bad ones and forget the good...You must realize that this fact is in force for the top pros in the world the same as it is for us. It's what we do with this fact that makes the difference or not.

We must use our conscious (aware) mind at this point to zero in, celebrate, repeat, create a memory and otherwise hammer into our brains whenever we DO have a good shot. This will help us in our golfing self-image in believing that we are capable of good golf. Positive self-belief begets more positive results. We've all heard the phrase "Self-defeating behavior" right? It works the same with "Self-achieving behavior". Understand and live this and you WILL SEE RESULTS it can't not happen.

Examples of positive statements to use and repeat to yourself often:

  • I am a 70's (or 80's or 90's) shooter
  • I make all my putts within 4 feet (this is big)
  • Bunker shots are easier for me than greenside rough shots
  • I am an expert in visualization
  • My pre-shot routine gives me consistency

How to do Mental Practice
Step by step guide to Mental practice

From golf psychologist Dr. Bob Phillips on Mental Practice:Mental Imagery: Let's begin with imagery and talk about the right way to mentally practice. The most common mistake is to make images of yourself doing well. You close your eyes, visualize yourself having a great round and feel good about it. That makes a nice feeling, but it does little as far a real mental practice is concerned. The most productive way to use imagery is what is called the "associated" form or style. In the associated style you may begin by seeing yourself, but then you step into the image and the rest of the image is of what you would see and feel if you were actually playing the golf yourself. You know you are in the associated style if you can not see your forehead or your back. You can not see these parts of your body in the real world and in associated imagery you can not see them either. When using imagery focus on how the body feels when it is doing things right. Focusing on the feel of a good swing or putt emphasized the memory and recreation of the swing or putt. Next time you want to actually hit or putt the ball you will find that the imagery, if done often and correctly, has made it easier to actually perform better

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Have you ever noticed that you play better when you play with a golfer who is far better than you? Like maybe a pro? If you ever get the chance, take it! The reasoning is answered by the concepts in NLP. The pro is modelling and you are actually "soaking" it in if you pay attention to him/her at all. You should always try to play with golfers who are better than you. Pay attention to their habits other than the swing like: How they walk, carry themselves, what their face looks like right before they swing, overall body language, etc.

Here's a great article on golf and NLP:

Accelerated Learning and Superlearning

As I stated in the CD program, accelerated learning programs are primarily used for learning languages and other academics faster than normal. However, much of it has been passed to sports performance and so wherever you read of it's effectiveness or techniques for the classroom, you can apply to the field as well.

The biggest difference in this area for subconscious training is in the use of MUSIC during your sessions.

An example of an affirmation for golfers

.

Use it verbatim or tailor it for yourself. Always use present tense. Do not use any negatives like: "I never hit into hazards".

I am an excellent golfer. I love playing golf whenever I can because I get a thrill out of playing well. I am supremely confident and calm when I get to the first tee because I know I will hit it where I want. My driver is my best club and best friend. I love swinging it freely and feeling a solid shot every time. I can swing my driver with confidence since my constant spine axis guarantees good contact. My average drive is ____________ (fill in your best drive distance here) and I always hit the fairway.

I walk the course with a positive attitude because I am having so much fun out here and I know that having fun will make me play better. I find difficult shots are a challenge that I relish. I love having to think my way around a course and put the pieces of the scoring puzzle together. I am confident with my accuracy because I trust my subconscious to square the club at impact and then point it at my target for shots that go where I directed them.

When I pull an iron out of my bag, I get a rush from knowing that I'm about to feel and watch a perfectly struck shot to the green. I am an expert at visualization where I clearly see the shot I will make with my club following a perfect swing path to execute it. I can swing my irons freely because I know I have an ironclad short game that will always get me up and down for par.

When I am chipping, I aim to put the ball in the hole. When I am putting, I lose all track of what is happening around me and am totally fixed on the hole and sending the ball there. I have a very good eye for reading greens and I trust the line I picked out to get it there because I know that my subconscious mind knows how to stroke it pure.

I have plenty of energy for focus and concentration as I am drinking plenty of water and healthy foods before and during the game. I maximize and conserve my concentration by turning it on high for short periods during my pre-shot routine. When I'm out on the course, everything I've learned starts to "Click" and I gain positive momentum with every positive thought and great shot. I play smart, loose, carefree and don’t care about my score.

My playing partners love playing with me because I pick their game up a notch and they enjoy being around the upbeat person that I am on the course. Every shot I make throughout the round is a learning experience that I build on for my next round. I really celebrate my great shots because I know that is how they become a regular part of my game. I finish my round thinking "I can't wait to play again!"

80/20

Think and visualize this affirmation with pictures of how you would see things as you do when when you are really golfing (in other words, from your own eyes and not from someone else's). From all we know of working with our subconscious to try to change it, we get better results when we are in a relaxed state. Adding Baroque classical music can only help (studies have shown) but is not necessary. Bring these statements with you to the course, live them, think them, believe them and over time, your subconscious mind will be forced to accept this new reality you have presented to it and will not allow anything different; The same way it won't allow you to play well now due to all of the negative input you've been giving it over the years!
